Pupils do not achieve well in this school. In some subjects, pupils do not learn as much as they should. Some pupils do not have the knowledge that they need to succeed in external examinations or in later life. The pupils that we spoke to said that they feel safe in school. They get on well with one another. They said that staff work hard to resolve any problems that arise between pupils. Pupils told us that bullying is rare. They are confident that staff will deal with it well. Staff have high expectations of pupils’ behaviour. However, there is a lack of consistency in how staff manage pupils’ behaviour. Staff and pupils told us that incidents of poor behaviour occur too often. This stops some pupils from enjoying their time at school. Pupils value the care they receive from staff. They take part in a wide range of extracurricular clubs and sporting activities.
