The school meets requirements on the publication of specified information on its website. The school meets current floor standards. These are the minimum expectations set by the government for pupils’ progress and attainment. There have been a number of leadership changes over the last three years. The school was led by an acting headteacher at the time of the previous inspection. A new substantive headteacher was appointed, and joined the school in September 2014. The current headteacher joined the school as deputy headteacher in September 2015, became acting headteacher in October 2016 and substantive headteacher in April 2017. The long-standing chair of governors left the school in July 2016. The current chair of the governing body took up his post in September 2016. Inspection report: Buckhurst Hill Community Primary School, 3–4 May 2017 Page 9 of 11 Information about this inspection Inspectors gathered a range of information to judge the quality of teaching and learning over time. Inspectors observed parts of 16 lessons, some jointly with the headteacher. Meetings were held with the headteacher, other leaders, a representative of the local authority, a group of pupils and a group of governors. Inspectors looked closely at the work in pupils’ exercise books, listened to them read and talked to them about their work. Inspectors spoke to parents on the playground as they brought their children to school. The views of the 80 parents who responded to Parent View, Ofsted’s online questionnaire, were taken into account. Inspectors took account of 10 responses to Ofsted’s staff survey. Inspectors scrutinised the school’s assessment information, records of leaders’ monitoring of the quality of teaching and learning in the school and a range of other documents.
