The school is significantly larger than the average-sized primary school. The executive headteacher is a national leader of education. Staff from Lavender Primary School, a national support school, provide leadership support and training for teachers and leaders at Brimsdown Primary School. The proportion of disadvantaged pupils is approximately double the national average. Over three quarters of pupils are from an ethnic minority background. Over half of pupils speak English as an additional language. The proportion of pupils with education, health and care plans is average, as is the proportion of pupils who have special educational needs and/or disabilities. The school meets the current government floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for pupils’ attainment and progress in English and mathematics. The school’s website meets the expectations for publication of information. The school has a specialist resource provision for 10 pupils with severe and profound hearing impairment. The school provides before- and after-school care each weekday.
