School Description

Shelfield Greencorns is a small independent special school that was registered in August 2007. It provides education for students aged from 11 to 18 years with complex needs, including severe behavioural, emotional and social difficulties. The school is owned by Advanced Childcare and all students live in accommodation owned by the company. Most students attending the school since the last inspection have had a statement of special educational needs. Currently, no students have a statement of special educational needs. Some students may be on roll at the school for very short periods, whereas others may stay for around two years. The aim of the school is to provide students with a personalised, effective curriculum in which work and activities are challenging and result in strong learning outcomes. Students are taught by a team of visiting teachers who follow a rota planned by the senior education staff. The school has no particular religious affiliation. It was last inspected in March 2009.
