The concentration of pupils shows likelihood of admission based on distance criteria

This School Guide heat map has been plotted using official pupil data taken from the last School Census collected by the Department for Education. It is a visualisation of where pupils lived at the time of the annual School Census.

Our heat maps use groups of postcodes, not individual postcodes, and have naturally soft edges. All pupils are included in the mapping (i.e. children with siblings already at the school, high priority pupils and selective and/or religious admissions) but we may have removed statistical ‘outliers’ with more remote postcodes that do not reflect majority admissions.

For some schools, the heat map may be a useful indicator of the catchment area but our heat maps are not the same as catchment area maps. Catchment area maps, published by the school or local authority, are based on geographical admissions criteria and show actual cut-off distances and pre-defined catchment areas for a single admission year.

This information is provided as a guide only. The criteria in which schools use to allocate places in the event that they are oversubscribed can and do vary between schools and over time. These criteria can include distance from the school and sometimes specific catchment areas but can also include, amongst others, priority for siblings, children of a particular faith or specific feeder schools. Living in an area where children have previously attended a school does not guarantee admission to the school in future years. Always check with the school’s own admission authority for the current admission arrangements.

3 steps to help parents gather catchment information for a school:

  1. Look at our school catchment area guide for more information on heat maps. They give a useful indicator of the general areas that admit pupils to the school. This visualisation is based on all attending pupils present at the time of the annual School Census.
  2. Use the link to the Local Authority Contact (above) to find catchment area information based on a single admission year. This is very important if you are considering applying to a school.
  3. On each school page, use the link to visit the school website and find information on individual school admissions criteria. Geographical criteria are only applied after pupils have been admitted on higher priority criteria such as Looked After Children, SEN, siblings, etc.

School Description

The school serves a relatively affluent community. The proportion of pupils who are eligible for a free school meal is much lower than the national average. Most pupils are from White British backgrounds and there is a small number who are from minority ethnic groups. The proportion of pupils who have learning difficulties is very low. A higher than average proportion of pupils stays in the school for the full length of their compulsory education and a higher than average number stays on into the sixth form.

"> I feel that this school has let my daughter down so far. After 2 years, I do not feel like the teachers know my daughter. I feel a new Ofsted visit is really needed.
“Disappointing!”

unlock
"> As a current parent I have found this school to be a real disappointment. The school informs parents it is 'Outstanding' but that inspection is 10/11 years old now. The school is incredibly outdated. I have serious concerns about the quality of teaching and learning that is currently taking place. Even when asked direct questions about my child’s strengths and weaknesses, the staff are evasive and/or unable to answer. Reporting might as well be non-existent. They will not give you any idea of a starting point, how they determine if a student is making progress and how they are tracking it. They have decided that all graded assessments are now recorded in exercise books that the students are not allowed to take home. This, therefore, makes it impossible to decipher where your child is at. Parents are invited to one parent consultation a year from which numerous subject teachers are always absent. Other local schools have really upped their game and the difference between this school and those is obvious. Both have recently been inspected and graded outstanding. I wish Ofsted would decide to pay Presdales a visit. I think they need a real wake up call as, in my opinion, they are really not the school that they tell everyone they are. Cannot wait for my daughter to leave.
“Excellent”

"> Excellent. Wide curriculum, especially for languages, extremely dedicated teaching staff, and high achieving pupils. Also strong in drama and music.
“A Great School”

"> I went to Presdales School in the 90s before it was an Academy. It is great to see the same management team in place. This school equip me with some great life skills as well as good grades. The teachers were passionate and engaged and pupils were supported and encouraged throughout their schooling. I wouldn't hesitate to send my daughter to this school.
