NUMBERS ADD UP TO EXCELLENT RESULTS FOR KING EDWARD’S SCHOOL

Boys at King Edward’s School, Birmingham, were celebrating this summer after achieving excellent GCSE and International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma results.

At GCSE 67% of results were graded 9/8 grades and 84% were 9–7. In the IB Diploma, the class of 2019 achieved excellent results. Three boys gained the maximum score of 45 points, a score achieved by less than 0.2% of students worldwide out of over 165,000 IB students in total, a further 12 scored either 44 or 43 points, and 41% of the 103 boys attained scores of 40 points or above (the equivalent of more than four A*s at A-level).

Graham Watson, Director of Studies at King Edward’s School, said: “These are deservedly excellent results for our boys, who have all worked exceptionally hard. I am also delighted for their teachers who have supported the boys throughout their studies and helped them realise their academic potential.

“These boys are not only successful academically but contribute in so many ways to the life of the school: in sport, music, drama and through numerous clubs and societies. I am extremely proud of all that they have achieved and look forward to their continued success as they progress into the Sixth Form in September.”
